Your synagogue is more than a place of worship—it's a sanctuary of tradition, learning, and community. The right furniture elevates this sacred space, enhancing comfort, beauty, and spiritual connection.
You know the importance of a comfortable and beautiful space—uncomfortable shul furniture distracts, and a plain space won't invite new members. This is why it's so important to ensure that your synagogue is both comfortable and stylish.

Synagogue Furniture Glossary
Here are quick definitions of common synagogue furniture pieces that New Holland would help design and produce.
Aron Kodesh: The Torah Ark. A cabinet or decorative enclosure that houses the Torah scrolls. Typically positioned at the front of the sanctuary.
Amud: The specific prayer lectern at the front of the sanctuary where the cantor or prayer leader stands to lead the congregation in prayer.
Reading Table: The table placed on the bimah from which the Torah is read. The synagogue equivalent of a lectern. Synagogues do not use pulpits.
Torah Stand: A smaller stand used to hold and display the Torah scroll during services and is often positioned on or near the bimah.
Bimah Chairs The elevated platform seating typically reserved for the rabbi, cantor, synagogue president, and other honeroed guests.
Kippah Box This dispenser/storage container is used to hold a supply of clean, plain kippot (yamakas) for guests, visitors, or those who fogot their own.
Mechitza: A partition or divider used in traditional synagogues to separate men's and women's seating sections.
Not sure which pieces are right for your space? We help you select, design, and install every element, so your sanctuary feels complete from the first row to the bimah.
