Church Pulpit Examples:

Your church pulpit sets the stage for sermons and serves as a significant point of focus surrounding your worship leader as your congregation listens attentively. With traditional church interior design and architecture on the rise, you’ll want to be sure that any planned updates to your worship space include the pulpit.

New Holland Church Furniture can create a wide variety of pulpits for your church or synagogue. Various wood species are available, including red oak, maple, cherry, white oak, and many more. You can choose to design your pulpit as a traditional straight pulpit, a hexagonal pulpit, or a radius-curved pulpit, which features a stunning curve to attract attention. We can also add custom decorative details to the front, like a cross, Star of David, or other intricate carvings.

What’s the Difference Between a Church Pulpit and an Ambo?

For both liturgical and terminology reasons, there is some disagreement about what makes a church pulpit different from an ambo (and distinct from a church podium or lectern, too). We won’t get into lengthy technical descriptions or a history lesson here, but on a practical level, synagogue and church pulpits tend to be physically attached to the building in some way. Church pulpits are also designed to physically surround the worship leader, especially with hexagonal pulpits or radius-curved pulpits, and elevate them above the congregation.

In contrast, an ambo in modern church interior design terms will be freestanding. It may be placed on a platform or elevated in some other way. Depending on a given congregation’s traditions, it may also be moveable, like a lectern.

Whether you’re envisioning straight pulpits, hexagonal or radius-curved pulpits, lecterns, ambos, or a podium for your new construction or renovation, New Holland Church furniture can make the custom design you want.
